About Us
Ushanga Chronicles is a story of commitment to craftmanship that spans from the year 2018 when Linda, the founder was gifted a beaded necklace by a friend on her graduation day at the university. She recalls how the necklace beautifully complimented her gown giving it a touch of the rich African cultural heritage.
A year later while in the open-air market in Kiambu county, a thrift reseller gave her a beautiful bead she found in her thrifts saying, I know you can create something beautiful using this bead and true to her words the bead marked the beautiful journey of handcrafting hence the name Ushanga a Swahili word meaning a bead.
Over the years together with other skilled artisans in Nairobi Kenya, we embarked on a journey of exploring and discovering the beauty of craftmanship. We honor the traditions of artisans who came before us and preserve the legacy for generations to come.
We use locally available materials such as beads, cow bones and horns, recycled brass, African print fabric, wood, soap stones, sisal and grass. Our statement pieces are adorned with intricate geometric patterns with human touch making them unique.
As you explore our collection, keep in mind that we pour our heart and soul in every creation. We hope our crafts give you utmost happiness.
